Greetings From The Antipodes

Electronic Music Australia ep.6 aired 11 April 2022

This week's episode of EMA might just be my favourite to date. Am I allowed to say that? I love all my children equally... but this one maybe just a little bit more.

We ease into the hour with another absoutely brilliant remix from Brissy's Subset of 'Truth A Truth' from Iron Gate Sound (Syd). What a vibe! The flow felt right with Darcy Baylis (Melb) (ft. Emma Acs) and 'No Other Dream' as well as another amazing track from Purient (Melb) called 'Sad'. You may recall her track 'Memories' previously featured on EMA episode 1. These songs are both dreamy and dancy, happy and sad and you can sing along to them as well and I really feel that's hitting the music jackpot, innit?

The only Australian act this year to win a Grammy for their track 'Alive', Rüfüs Du Sol also made their debut appearance on Electronic Music Australia this week. No doubt that's a far more illustrious and exciting achievement for them than winning a Grammy. Their 2012 track, 'The Gun' featured as my throwback and certainly brought back many memories, including seeing the band in 2012 and 2013. Check out how happy I look meeting Jon George back in 2013...naww cute!

Are you ready for UNRELEASED MUSIC? 'Deep Down' from Gold Coast mystery duo GrooveJak landed in my inbox last week. It's a sexy late night heater that I am personally very excited about. I will keep you posted when I find out the release date of that one, in the meantime I might just have to give it another spin on EMA...

Taglo (Robert Bregnsdal)'s collab with Abel (aka Cain) is another late night special. They're keeping the details firmly under wraps but at least you can listen to it here on EMA!

It was a Brisbane take over for the end of the hour, starting with Olympic Pool Maintenance League (Chris Bennie) and his track 'Antipodean Logic'. I defintely get visions of red, dry earth and beatiful Australian outback landscapes when I hear this track. Almost as quintessentially Australian was 'Met Her At The Bush Doof' from Super Jim Z and Brisbane Drum and bass royalty Skitzoid (Matt Parker) took us home with 'Sketchy'.

HEY YOU! YES, YOU! I want to hear from you! What do you think of the show? What tracks would you like me to feature? Where are you from? I also really want to hear from you if you are a producer from Western Australia, South Australia, Northern Territory, ACT or Tasmania!

Get in touch with me via the EMA socials or message me here.

The next episode of Electronic Music Australia airs on 105.7 Radio Metro on Monday, April 18 at 3 am AEST. You can listen to EMA episode 6 on Mixcloud and YouTube or check out the Spotify playlist below.
