Who Loves The Sun?

Updated: May 30, 2023

Electronic Music Australia ep.31 aired 1 November 2022

Spring has kicked off a bit wetter and cooler than most of us would prefer but what has been marvellous to see gigs taking off all over the country with incredible Australian line-ups and increasing numbers of international acts finally making their way back "down undah". This is definitely priming me for a big Summer party season. I'm also finding myself mentally winding down into holiday mode while my work life is very much not winding down. Saddies.

The last couple of weekends have been brilliant in terms of local music events, with highlights including Lab Leaked Beats inaugral event in Murwillumbah sporting a lineup that included two artists that have been featured on EMA - Taglo and Native Dog who both played amazing sets. The next Lab Leaked Beats event is on November 19 and features Brazillian GENRE duo Shapeless and Anatta (NZ), Khynes (Gold Coast) and Native Dog (NSW) on support. Halloween weekend was also jam packed, but I was thrilled to experience proper techno on the Gold Coast with the "HORROR DAY" event by El Primo, Cross the Line and Purity events putting on two quality events. Nuture the locals who are hustling hard to keep the underground scene alive peeps!

Listen to me fangirling this weeks featured artist, producer, musician and music production teacher Adam Bozzetto, otherwise known as For Life. After years of soley electronic production Bozzetto has found himself returning to his beloved guitar which has lead to the development of his own unique sound. What I love about the For Life sound is that it can easily form the soundtrack of a chill afternoon in the sun as it can the 3am dancefloor or the afterparty. For Life is a celebration of life, and it's dance music that can communicate to a wide range of audiences, not just the die-hard clubbers. With 90's progressve and techno inspiration, paired with Bozzetto's own guitar riffs and elegant vocal samples, the result is smooth and groovy.

Adam Bozzetto's previous project Wordlife with Barney Kato and I was a very big fan then, so I couldn't resist adding in their 2013 track 'Breakthrough', as this week's throwback.

You can catch For Life this Friday, November 4 at Home Sydney opening for none other than Booka Shade. Event details here. Make sure you follow For Life via the links below.

With everything else happening this episode I didn't squeeze in a listener's pick but if you want me to play your favourite Aussie tune and / or get a shout out, hit me up.

All going to plan, next week I'll be chatting with ARIA Club Chart topper Ben Renna and he might even do a sneaky guest mix! Squee! So don't forget to tune in next Tuesday night at 2300 AEST on 105.7 Radio Metro, who incidentally are celebrating their 21st birthday this Friday night. Super excited to celebrate with one of the most enthusiastic and passionate teams I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

Until next time,
